Ricoh Featured in CDP 'A List' for Climate Action Leadership
Ricoh has been included in the 2021 climate change "A List" by CDP, a non-profit organization that runs the leading global disclosure system for environmental impacts.
The CDP "A List" is comprised of companies recognized as global leaders who demonstrate excellence in their actions, strategies and results in responding to climate change. CDP evaluated nearly 12,000 companies worldwide this year. The climate change 2021 "A List" includes 200 companies, of which 55 are Japanese. This is the second consecutive year that Ricoh features in the list.
Ricoh's internationally acclaimed efforts to mitigate climate change and provide comprehensive information disclosure led to the 2021 CDP climate change "A list" recognition. In 2018, Ricoh committed to the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). In March 2020, in light of increasing momentum toward global warming, Ricoh increased its global greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction target for 2030 from 30% to 63%, as compared to 2015. This new target, approved by SBTi, demonstrates Ricoh's commitment to efforts to limit global warming to 1.5°C above preindustrial levels.
Ricoh has positioned the "realization of a zero-carbon society" as one of its seven material issues to help tackle climate change. To achieve this, Ricoh set ESG targets for renewable energy utilization rate, in addition to the GHG reduction rate, and has been working to resolve social challenges through business. Based on Ricoh's commitment to become carbon neutral by 2050, Ricoh will continue to promote the realization of a zero-carbon society throughout its value chain through intensive energy conservation activities, proactive renewable energy utilization and active participation in international initiatives.
