MPS Monitor Achieves SOC 2 Type 2, CSA Star Level 2 & Renewal of ISO 27001
MPS Monitor has announced the successful completion of its System and Organization Controls 2 Type 2 (SOC 2 Type 2) examination, which included compliance to CSA Star Level 2 CCM requirements. In January 2023, the company also successfully passed an audit for the renewal of its ISO/IEC 27001 certificate.
MPS Monitor's certified compliance with these three top security standards demonstrates the company's commitment to ensuring the highest levels of security and privacy for its customers. The company has, for many years, adopted a holistic approach to print security, with the goal of providing the industry with the most secure cloud infrastructure for remote monitoring and management of print devices.
Established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the SOC 2 examination is designed for organizations of any size, regardless of industry and scope. Achieving this accreditation confirms that the information assets of a company, of its customers and partners are securely protected. SOC 2 reports are recognized globally and affirm that a company's infrastructure, software, people, data, policies, procedures and operations have been formally reviewed, to make sure that adequate security controls are in place and are effective.
Since being certified for the first time with the ISO/IEC 27001 standard back in 2017, MPS Monitor has always looked for ways to improve its Information Security Management System, and to further strengthen its security posture. In 2021 the company achieved its first compliance with SOC 2 Type 1 Trust Services Criteria. The latest achievement of SOC 2 Type 2 is much more stringent than SOC 2 Type 1, as Type 2 verifies the effectiveness of security controls over a period of one year, and not only on a certain date.
In addition to SOC 2 Type 2, the company decided to obtain a CSA Star Level 2 Attestation. The CSA Star Program is promoted by the Cloud Security Alliance, and ensures compliance with Cloud Control Matrix (CCM), a cybersecurity control framework for cloud computing. CCM is composed of 197 control objectives that are structured in 17 domains covering all key aspects of cloud technology. It can be used as a tool for the systematic assessment of a cloud implementation and provides guidance on which security controls should be implemented by which actor within the cloud supply chain. The controls framework is aligned with the CSA Security Guidance for Cloud Computing and is considered a de-facto standard for cloud security assurance and compliance.
"Everything we do is centered on protecting user's information and IT assets, so security is a fundamental component of MPS Monitor's culture and strategy," said Nicola De Blasi, CEO, MPS Monitor. "This is increasingly important as the print market evolves towards massive usage of SaaS and cloud platforms for every aspect of the business. Certified compliance with these three standards is an extremely valuable demonstration to our customers that their security is our first priority. Our Information Security Management System, now certified as compliant to ISO/IEC 27001, to SOC 2 Type 2 and to CSA Star Level 2, provides by far the highest security profile currently available in our industry."
"When we acquired MPS Monitor in 2022, we quickly realized that the company's commitment to information security is extremely high, and these recent certifications are a further demonstration of an excellent security posture," said Najib Nassif, director of technology at Valsoft Corp., owner of MPS Monitor. "At Valsoft, we buy and hold SaaS companies that have the ability to grow and deliver value for the long term to customers, and security is a fundamental element of any profitable and sustainable business model. We are extremely proud of the achievements that the MPS Monitor team is accomplishing in this area."
